Lighthouse Point city commissioners have selected Danto Builders to renovate and repurpose the community’s original fire station, an 1,100-square-foot structure within the City Hall complex. The Fort Lauderdale firm—one of ten bidders and the lowest qualified submission—secured a $1.6 million design-build contract that will convert the building into modern offices for the city’s Building and Code departments.
Architect Bill Gallo advised commissioners that renovating the existing structure was significantly more cost-effective than new construction, which would have required site elevation and extensive drainage upgrades estimated at $3.5–$5 million. The project is slated for completion within 12 months and will be funded by the Building Department.
Danto Builders adds this municipal upgrade to a portfolio that includes the Kirk Cottrell Pavilion in Deerfield Beach, improvements at Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport, and numerous high-end commercial and residential projects across South Florida.
