South Florida Flood Readiness Guide
Before the next storm
Find the water. Understand the risk. Plan the work.
Flooding can block access, interrupt operations, damage pavement and landscaping, undermine infrastructure, and create safety concerns for employees, customers, tenants, and visitors.
This guide is not an engineering report or an insurance opinion. It is a practical checklist to help you organize what you know before a working conversation with the right specialists.
The checklist
What to gather before you call.
Identify how water reaches the property: streets, drainage, groundwater, roofs, slabs, or building-envelope openings.
Document recurring problems with dates, photos, affected areas, operating impacts, and previous repairs.
Review access, parking, deliveries, tenant operations, equipment, and other business-continuity concerns.
Bring the information to a qualified construction and engineering team before selecting a repair.
